Seisint Launches Accurint^TM: Breakthrough Technology Product To Speed The Search for Missing Children and Locate Criminals

Donates Technology to National Center For Missing & Exploited Children

Boca Raton, FL, June 25, 2001 – Seisint, Inc., a global information management and technology company, today announced the unveiling of Accurint, a breakthrough product that is helping solve several of society’s most pressing challenges: finding missing and exploited children, solving insurance fraud and crime in general. At the same time, Seisint announced that it will be donating unlimited use of its technology and resources to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Consistent with Seisint’s mission to provide organizations with the ability to make the most of their massive data stores, the new technology analyzes billions of records in seconds. Accurint can dramatically improve law enforcement’s ability to obtain up-to-date as well as historical and background information on individual subjects. The product’s artificial intelligence provides aliases, historical addresses, relatives, associates, neighbors and assets. Seisint is committed to load all available data sources into the system.

Hank Asher, a data technologist with a deep history in creating investigative data systems, created the Accurint product. The new product has already been instrumental in the capture of more than a half-dozen fugitives, and has been established as a premier law enforcement technology.

According to government statistics, 358,000 children are abducted each year. Speed of search is critically important: Children located within the first 24 hours of being reported missing are more likely to be found alive.

The lack of instant, accurate and meaningful data impedes law enforcement activity virtually across the board. More than 115,692 suspects are pursued every year by the United States Attorney’s office, and over 19,490 complaints of Internet fraud are received annually by the Internet Fraud Complaint Center. Until now, the best tools available to help the law enforcement community track down those responsible have been costly to implement, complex to use and inadequate in terms of historical depth and critical speed.

The Accurint product also has direct business applications. Each year, business and industry need to locate delinquent customers in an environment in which 20-25 percent of the American population moves annually. Many of these people fail to report their new personal information to their banks and brokerages, in addition to insurance, credit card and utility companies.
